Hostplus, a leading Australian superannuation fund, has announced the extension of its group insurance partnership with MetLife Australia until June 2028.
This strategic move aims to elevate the servicing models across claims and underwriting, ultimately delivering stronger outcomes for Hostplus members.

Since the inception of their partnership in 2013, MetLife has played a pivotal role in enabling Hostplus to offer cost-effective group insurance to its members. The extension of this collaboration signifies a commitment to further strengthening their joint efforts in providing innovative and enhanced insurance offerings.

Hostplus CEO David Elia highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating that it unlocks new opportunities to improve service delivery in claims processing and underwriting. These enhancements are designed to provide a more personalised and efficient experience for members, ensuring that their insurance needs are met with greater precision and care.

Currently, Hostplus provides over 865,000 members with Death, Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD), and Income Protection insurance through its partnership with MetLife. The extension of this partnership is expected to bring about several benefits for members, including:

  • Lower Premiums: Continued collaboration may lead to more competitive premium rates, allowing members to enjoy cost-effective insurance coverage.
  • Improved Insurance Terms: The partnership aims to refine policy terms to better align with members' needs and expectations.
  • Enhanced Claims Experience: Efforts will be made to streamline the claims process, reducing turnaround times and improving overall member satisfaction.

For Hostplus members, this development presents an opportunity to review their current insurance coverage and assess how these enhancements may benefit them. It's advisable for members to stay informed about any forthcoming changes and consider consulting with financial advisers to ensure their insurance coverage aligns with their individual financial goals and circumstances.

In summary, the extension of the partnership between Hostplus and MetLife Australia underscores a shared commitment to delivering value-driven insurance solutions. By focusing on service improvements and member-centric initiatives, this collaboration aims to provide Hostplus members with enhanced financial security and peace of mind.
